Genesis 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Almighty God, it is so easy to talk oneself into destruction - thinking, well this one time, or, surely it won't be that bad. Yet we always know in our heart - the litmus test is you. And when we hide our heart from you, it is the sign that we are eating of the tree of good and evil and abandoning you.
