For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

They preserved history, not as a testimony to their greatness, but as a warning not to follow in their footsteps. Thank you, Lord, for your word - that as the world slides into sin, we can stay close to you and not make the mistakes of our fathers.
